It doesn't seem to be that long ago that I was thoroughly skeptical about the hybrid market. My friends and I giggled about some of the teeny tiny car options that got launched in the earlier days. And I scratched my head at the thought of having to plug in my car. I will now officially eat my words. When a car dealership, like BMW publicly lets it be known that they are actively pursuing a chunk of the hybrid market, it's time to stop giggling. The automaker is going for it with great gusto, even aiming as high as a quarter of the market share. The forward-thinking car-creators are even conceptualizing a line of vehicles where every last one can be fueled by an array of choices; gas, diesel, plug-in hybrid, or EV propulsion. Wow.
The Countryman, launched just this year, is part of BMWs family of well-known minis. It has plug-in capabilities and, per the automakers, tons of ways to make the vehicle specific to the buyer. Lots of trims, leather options, lighting choices and colors to pick from. As a decided plus, the battery is stored in a way that keeps the load capacity of the car at its peak. The plug-in range is not one of the overall best of its kind. But, with BMW firmly in the fight to have options for its customers, I personally count on that to improve and for future generations to be as highly impressive as most of the franchise options are. The commitment is very impressive and I am quite sure that even if this country sip is on the modest, albeit attractive side, that the ultimate lineup will be to."
